People in our group come from different backgrounds including engineering science, mechanical and electrical engineering, and computer science. For an overview of the projects that we are working, please visit our research page and have a look at some of our publications. Projects can range from strongly theory/mathematics-focused to being an even mix of theory and experimental.

Graduate Students
If you are interested in joining our group, you should follow the standard application procedure for graduate studies at UTIAS and indicate ‘Dynamic Systems’ as your primary research interest. Incoming graduate students are highly encouraged to apply for external fellowships through either NSERC, OGS, Vanier (PhD), the Vector Institute (MASc), or through the appropriate agencies in their home countries.
Postdocs
We are looking for experienced researchers in robotics, controls and/or machine learning who have a strong publication record at the relevant conferences and journals. Please contact Prof. Schoellig directly and review postdoc scholarships and funding opportunities; for example, NSERC, Banting, Mitacs Elevate, Mitacs Globalink, Mitacs Accelerate, the Branco Weiss Fellowship, or the Vector Institute.
Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students looking for thesis or summer research opportunities should contact Prof. Schoellig directly and include the following information in their email: CV, transcripts, and a short write-up on other relevant experience. Please also indicate which projects your are particularly interested in and why. Note that these opportunities are generally restricted to University of Toronto Engineering Science students through awards such as NSERC USRAs or ESROP Awards.
Exchange Students
We regularly have exchange students from other universities join our group for 6- to 12-month research stays; for example, European students who want to do their Masters thesis abroad. If you are interested, please contact Prof. Schoellig directly and include the following information in your email: CV, transcripts, and a short write-up on other relevant experience. Please also indicate which projects your are particularly interested in and why.
Research Interns
We host domestic and international research interns for 3- to 6-month research stays over the summer funded by the Vector Institute. If you are interested, please contact Prof. Schoellig directly and include the following information in your email: CV, transcripts, and a short write-up on other relevant experience. Please also indicate which projects your are particularly interested in and why.
